Jane Philips
Jane Philips was born and raised on the gulf coast of Alabama, surrounded by woodlands, beaches, and swamps. Her mother passed on a wonder and curiosity for the natural world which Jane continues to express through her paintings. Much of her work is a reflection of her struggle with anxiety and her exploration of humanity and nature.
She holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. For the 2023/24 school year, she was the recipient of the Chubb Postgraduate Fellowship at NYAA. She is currently completing the Eric Fischl Teacher-in-Residence at West Nottingham Academy in MD. Jane and her loyal studio dog, Kaylee, are enjoying all the beautiful fall hikes Maryland has to offer.
